House Obsianna has ruled Obsidsinoir since its formation centuries ago.  Unlike neighbouring nations who focused on building fortifications upon fortifications, House Obsianna’s focus was on the future.  Their focus was on aggressive infrastructure development and technological innovation.  Nowhere was this truth more evident than with the creation of Serenity.   A massive airship, several hundred metres in length.  It took generations to finish, and completed its first flight without incident.  An engineering marvel, it is seen by many as a symbol of their nation’s ruling house.

Royal Airship

House Obsianna has ruled Obsidsinoir since its formation centuries ago.  Unlike neighbouring nations who focused on building fortifications upon fortifications, House Obsianna’s focus was on the future.  Their focus was on aggressive infrastructure development and technological innovation.  Nowhere was this truth more evident than with the creation of Serenity.   A massive airship, several hundred metres in length.  It took decades to finish, and completed its first flight without incident.  An engineering marvel, it is seen by many as a symbol of their nation’s ruling house.

The airship is made up of 2 sections.  The haie* contained in the upper section is where the piloting, navigation and engineering sections all reside.  There are several levels under the upper section containing the haie.  These include meeting rooms, rooms for weaponry and supplies, as well as quarters for and eateries.  The lower section of Serenity is held up by specially reinforced cables possessing a tensile strength and resiliency which renders them virtually unbreakable.

The lower section is referred to as the ‘Reliquary’.  It is several levels high, with each level stretching from end to end.  Marble floors, polished wooden walls decorated with gold and copper trim, crystal chandeliers adorning high ceilings make the ship’s interior more luxurious and opulent than the palaces of most other nations.  There are multiple facilities meant to occupy the passengers’ time during long journeys.  With its many amenities and vast space to move about, Serenity is essentially a city in the sky.

A city with a view.  A large slab of concave glass covers almost the entirety of the bottom of the lower section.  Being able to walk freely on the tempered glass can make one feel as though they were walking on air.  Be it day or night, it offers a breathtaking view.  Interestingly, it is said that the Sovereign’s favourite time to take in the view is neither day nor night, but rather, dawn and dusk.  Those moments must before the suns begin to rise, and those moments when they have just disappeared over the horizon.  When asked by one of her young Wards why, the Sovereign replied that she enjoyed seeing the land washed over with light by the rising suns, or in watching it be blanketed in night as those same suns set.

A museum is housed within the centre of the vessel.  The statues, scrolls and maps in the museum tell the story of Obsidsinor, and of the instrumental role House Obsianna’s ancestors played in its creation.  The museum has multiple levels, as the history it contained was said to be so rich and extensive, that its size could not be confined to one floor alone.

One of the levels also contains a large floor map, which details the location and topography of all known lands south of the Halvian Sea.  Obsianna House use this area for many of their meetings.  It is commonly used for attending dignitaries of foreign nations, as the map serves as a helpful visual aid when discussing matters regarding territories and trade.  However, the map also serves another purpose; to subtly remind those visiting delegates just how much knowledge House Obsianna possesses of each of their lands.

Massive omni windows can be seen on all sides, including the top and bottom, of Serenity.  Some of the glass windows cover multiple floors and can be several meters long.  This allows for a great amount of natural lighting.  The glass alloy itself is tempered, able to withstand the harshest of elements and almost all known armaments possessed by the other southern nations.

Several Soldat Rejal are stationed aboard Serenity at all times.  The personal guard of the Royal Family, their numbers on Serenity would vary depending on the nature of the ship’s journey, as well as which members of the ruling Nobility were aboard at that time.  one of the most common passengers is Kinn, a decorated Soldat Rejal, who is one of the personal guards of Heisun Obsianna, the future leader of their nation.

When Heisun takes the Serenity on its maiden flight across the Halvian Sea, Kinn accompanies her as both captain of the Soldat Rejal, as well as Heisun’s aide and bodyguard.

*Haie – a naturally occurring gas that is cultivated mainly from mining underground gas pockets.  Said to be several times lighter than air, this element is known to exist only in lands south of the Halvian Sea, with the largest reserves being in Obsidsinoir.  While deposits of this elements can be found in other southern nations, their reserves are said to be much smaller, and those nations have yet to achieve the means to cultivate and refine it for use as Obsidsinoir has.
