“Sometimes, one can be so enamoured by Wolfenstaad’s wealth, that they fail to see understand the power that would have been needed in order to take, and keep, what so many others coveted.” -Anonymous Noble.
North of the Halvian Sea, the centre of power has always been the nation of Wolfenstaad, acknowledged as being the oldest nation in the north. It has maintained its role of dominance throughout the history of civilization. Mostly through its armies in more ancient times. In more recent times, it would elect to maintain its superiority through trade and diplomacy.
In the north, its lands are known to possess the largest reserves of mineral resources and precious metals. It would allow them to arm their armies in ancient times. In addition, it allowed them to build great structures, and also be used as a valued commodity for trade in the present. They were able to refine metal and steel that would neither corrode over time, nor become brittle when exposed to the harsh elements. In ancient times, it was said that the armour and weapons they forged were far stronger and more resilient than that of the other northern nations.
They would also achieve mastery of shipbuilding. Building ships that would allow them to travel far beyond their shores to expand their reach. In those times, their ancestors would raid the other northern nations with regularity. Sometimes travelling far into their mainland to take all they could, be it precious metals, resources, and even people for slave labour. In those times, the purpose of their journeys was to conquer, or to raid. As time progressed, trade and diplomacy would begin to replace raiding. It was said that the ancestors of Wolfenstaad even ventured to those nations to help with infrastructure and industrialization. Some did so in with the intent of fostering relations to build future alliances. But it was said that a small number did so as some form of tacit penance or restitution for the actions committed by their ancestors who came before them.
Regardless, it is said that traces of Wolfenstaad’s presence can still be found in the lands of other northern nations, be it statues, or battlefields where the lands never fully healed.
